The Beauty Book

The fluidity of aesthetics and the concept of beauty

This book ‘Intangible Beauty’ explores the ever-changing realm of aesthetics and the concept of beauty, which are socially constructed started from ancient society to today.

Notions of what is considered ‘beautiful’ change over time and they vary within cultures but can also have a universal impact. For instance, Modern beauty standards have become more diverse and fluid.

The Backstory

Given the context of the information era, the book discusses the close relationship between technology and beauty, not only how beauty can be easily manipulated but also how it has shaped our perception and behavior.

The book further imagines the possible future for the concept of beauty under the information age with an infinite potential and will be intangible to measure or define.

The Front Pages

Part I

The book starts with a general introduction of context to discuss the development of beauty in modern society. Part One shows a brief history of beauty via diverse icons, and moves on to transformation within the information age.

Part One discusses modern beauty diversity and inclusivity through a spectrum of angels. The later half introduces how modern beauty becomes alterable through the use of digital tools.

Part II

Part Two proposes the infinite possibilities for future beauty through experimenting with fluid materiality.
